Umami Packed Butter Garlic Shrimp
Written Recipe
Total Time: 1 hr
Cook Time: 1 hr Feeds 2-3 people
Ingredients
1 pound jumbo shrimps
1 bunch of cilantro, chopped
2 tbsp of oyster sauce
1 tbsp of hoisin sauce
2 heads of garlic minced
1 bunch of green onions
4 tbsp of unsalted butter
1 shallot minced (optional)
1 tbsp of honey or sugar
1 tbsp of MSG (don't be scared to use)
2 tbsp of Sambal (or sriracha but sambal is better)
2 tbsp of fried onion or shallot for garnish (optional)
Method:
In a bowl or a cup mix your oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, honey, MSG, and sambal together till thoroughly mixed and then set aside for later. If you skip on the MSG you are about to get some serious FOMO.
Get a nonstick pan and put it on the heat. Once the pan is hot, throw in your butter and a little a bit of oil as well. Once butter is bubbling, throw in your heaping pile of garlic and shallots in the pan and cook till golden, about 1 minute.
Once the garlic is golden brown throw in your jumbo shrimp and combine it fast. Then cook for another minute.
Once shrimp is almost cooked, throw in your sauce to combine with shrimp and garlic. Cook down for another minute.
Throw in your cilantro and fried shallots and combine for garnish.
Serve with jasmine rice or with noodles and GO IN!
Background info: Garlic, Shrimp, and Butter is a deadly combo that can never go wrong. Add some Umami to it and you got yourself a top-tier dish that will give your friends a flavor explosion. To make this dish is a lot of preparation, but once you got everything in order or your mise en place it takes about 5-10 minutes to put together. The first time I tried this dish was at A&J seafood shack in Long Beach and fell in love right away. So, in a way, this is my version of the dish. Thank god for Shrimp and Garlic!
